PCI parallel port on HP Elitedesk 800G1 was created by garthnoakes
I bought this and a Linkstec PCI parallel extension board, but for Linux source code needs to be compiled for the driver, and the compile throws syntax errors.
Can anyone recommend a card that will definitely work with this? I've installed the latest 2.9.2 version of LinuxcncHP EliteDesk 800G1 Mini Tower Desktop Computer PC, Intel Core i5-4590T, 16GB RAM, 256GB SSD, 1TB HDD, NVIDIA GT730, WiFi, Bluetooth, DVD, Win10 Pro (Renewed)

Typically you don't need a manufacturers driver if
the low level hardware is standard.
Does Linux detect the parallel port?
lspci | grep -i par may give a hint

If its based on a Asix AX99100 (which came up on google searches), you maybe able to read the chip, or the above command may identify it, the is thread my help, forum.linuxcnc.org/16-stepconf-wizard/46...-card-ax99100#245645

It is indeed an AX99100 - lspci shows that. I will read your thread now

I will try what is in the thread- I do see (Wrong ID) in the lspci -k output, so this is a HAL issue?

Doesn't make much sense.
Copy & paste of the relevant output will make life easier.
HAL isn't an issue until you start a config, the important part is to get the correct address.
run
And copy & paste the output

I copied the ini files from a setup that was already working - but that PC has a built-in parallel port. So that should be the only difference between the two. I'm sure that caused the issue

No output - but lspci -v shows both ports are disabled. I have made a few attempts to enable them, not working yet
