It worked for me in the past.
Unfortunately I am not at a LinuxCNC machine until sunday night at that very earliest so can't experiment.

I've also changed the fmt line to 5 to 6 to 3 and nothing works. Also the default for metric is 3 but the display is always 4 and apparently the accuracy also.
It worked for me in the past.

I know this is 2 years old, but I thought I'd add the info that you can change the glcanon.py file at about line 567 to change the graphical representation numbers from 2 digit precision to 3.
The line is: fmt = is_metric and "%.1f" or "%.2f"
Changing 1f and 2f to 2f or 3f respectively, adds a digit of precision to the screen display.

There is no need to do this in the 2.8 version. (master / development version)

You can set the format with DRO_FORMAT_IN and DRO_FORMAT_MM in the INI file.
