Can't install camview in buster was created by seuchato
Hi all
I do have a mobius one camera, which I got working, including crosshairs in axis up and working, following the instruction here: wiki.linuxcnc.org/cgi-bin/wiki.pl?Axis_Embed_Video.
However, I fail to get camview installed. the wiki page referred to, points to psha.org.ru/b/camview-emc.html. Following that page I did:
Why do I get this error?

At the very bottom of that Wiki page it says "Last edited March 28, 2011 10:28 pm by Psha" so it might well be very out of date.
This one appears to be newer: wiki.linuxcnc.org/cgi-bin/wiki.pl?Adding_Camview
More up-to-date still is probably "cam_align" Try searching the forum for that.

Fiddled around a bit and did a lot of reading too (doing the very rtfm smiley, shame on me)
Besed on the suggetstions of both, andypugh and bari, I dropped all camview stuff in favour of cam_align, and: I got some success!
I have a tab in axis, showing cam pic, simple cross hairs and a small circle. downside: takes quite some time to start axis, about 30 secs or so. Just a bit of an annoyance, not an issue though. If I start from commandline, I see a ton of messages:
Questions:
Is this normal?
If not: how to remedy?

Where does it spend the time? I would guess at the "Waiting for component 'qtvcp_embed' to become ready..." stage?
You can make some of the cruft disappear by adding the missing items to the [DISPLAY] section of the INI {and probably should, just so you end up with sensible values in the GUI).
I don't know how serious the bad-drawable errors are. Are they regular and continuous?

There should be a sim: axis/qtvcp/qtvcp_tab available.
Can you try it and see if there is a big delay too ?

It works on 2.8.4 here without any noticeable startup delay, the "BadDrawable" messages only seem to appear during shutdown.
I do see these at the top of your messages, I have no idea what they are or whether they cause any issues.
