that's really big...

I'm riding a Suzuki SV 650. Where I live (next to the Black Forrest an the Alps). We have small streets with sharp curves so you need a bike with less than 200Kg to have fun... ;-)

Yes it is big at 1800 and some change cc's 6 cylinders and 850+lbs but you can still drag the pegs if you want to with this bike she corners very well for such a large bike. Oh and it can go from 0 to 140 mph faster than you can write the check for the ticket.

OK. I upgraded my RAM now. But the problems are the same...

Running the Steppconf-Wizzard is no problem (I'm also able to move the Axis during the the Setup :-D )

but if I start my config some bad things happens:

I could:
- move my mouse pointer
- listen to web radio (for hours)

I couldn't:
- switch the Desktop (ctrl + alt + left/right)
- get reaction on pressing the 'Num'-Key
- the pointer of the mouse is Black
- click on any thing
- change to tty1 (ore other else) using (ctrl + alt + F1)

Did you run the latency test after upgrading your ram and use the jitter number in the Stepconf Wizard?

So your config starts up but the GUI seems frozen? This can be from having a base period too low.

This sounds like the problem that RTAI has with some hardware OpenGL.
Stepconf doesn't use OpenGL, but Axis does.
As an experiment you can try changing the user interface in the INI file:
[DISPLAY]
...
DISPLAY = axis

change to
DISPLAY = tkemc

If that works then it strongly points to an OpenGL issue, and the solution is probably here:

OK. the problem seems to be a axis problem.

I changed the Display=axis to display=tkemc an it works!

But this HMI isn't my style... I used Mach3 before ;-)

now I'm going to have a look after andypugh's link...
