Thanks for the tip. The pin names are different when loading from port_test.xml the .ini file with PYVCP = port_test.xml
## show pin with .ini load of port_test.xml
# 53 bit OUT FALSE pyvcp.btn00
# 53 bit OUT FALSE pyvcp.btn01
# 53 bit OUT FALSE pyvcp.btn03
# 53 bit OUT FALSE pyvcp.btn17
# 53 bit OUT FALSE pyvcp.btn18
...
## show pin with .hal load of port_test.xml
# 36 bit OUT FALSE port_test.btn00
# 36 bit OUT FALSE port_test.btn01
# 36 bit OUT FALSE port_test.btn03
# 36 bit OUT FALSE port_test.btn17
# 36 bit OUT FALSE port_test.btn18
...
Is there anything I can do about this?
Oh, of course, I'll just make two different postgui files. One for stand alone, the other for Axis

I tested this out with a different postgui.hal file and it works! Thanks for your help.
Any reason why the two methods are different?

'loadusr -Wn port_test pyvcp -c port_test port_test.xml'
-c sets the component name; which sets the pin base name - feel free to change it (you'll have to change the -Wn name to match.)

Ok, I'll change the loadusr to pyvcp so I can switch back and forth for testing with the same postgui.hal file.
I understand how it works now but I found the examples in the manual confusing. If I want to develop panels outside of axis I'll have to always use pyvcp as the base name to avoid problems.
Thanks for you help.
