In the HAL configuration what is the difference in the abs-hat0x-is-pos and abs-rx-is-pos and just abs-x-is-pos?

Hi John Bartels,

If you are asking a question, please give more information.

Your question looks like three different hal signal names :
abs-hat0x-is-pos
abs-rx-is-pos
abs-x-is-pos

Net 1 abs-hat0x-is-pos
Net 2 abs-rx-is-pos
Net 3 abs-x-is-pos

Question = solved.

After searching on google i find out that maybe your question related to a joystick.

Correct, I am working on a joystick. However the question relates to the difference in the 3 signals. "abs-x-is..," must be different than "abs-hat0x-is...." What does the hat designator represent. Same for "abs-rx-is..." what does the r represent?

those come from a joystick USB HID report descriptor. not sure about "rx" - is it "rz"? then they are

hat switch x axis
rotate z axis
x axis

"abs" means absolute value (contrary to a relative offset, e.g. from a mouse)
"is-pos" i believe means count value is positive...

I suspect that what matters is what the pins do.

So set up a halmeter for each one, and watch the behaviour.
This is likely to be, to some extent, hardware dependent.

Halmeter is in the "Machine" menu in the Axis interface. If you can't find it in your interface (It can not be loaded from Touchy) then "halcmd loadusr halmeter" at the command-line will open one.
