It has been awhile but I finally getting time to work on this again. I am looking through my HAL configuration in axis and if I look in Pins -> motion I don't have any motion.spindle Is this a problem? I believe these are required to run the spindle or at least that is what it required last time I set it up in 2.7.

If you are running 2.8 then the motion.spindle pins have been renamed to spindle.N.pins as part of multi-spindle support.

That worked great, almost. I am able to turn off/on the spindle and vary rpm slightly. It is a 24000 rpm spindle and it might be only going 200. In the MDI I ran through a few different rpms to see if it would effect the speed and it does, but it is not full rpms yet. I checked .INI that it was set to 24000 and even in the loadusr line of the vfd I call out 24000. I initially thought I had the speed cmd messed up in my custom.hal file but when I check in the hal confugration and check the signals and pins are correct and list the rpm I stated in the MDI. Not sure what to check next.

Maybe the max frequency of the VFD needs increasing. It might well be set to a default of 50, and your spindle will need 300.

That was definitely an issue, I forgot that I had reset the VFD to its defaults when I started trying to set up the usb485 connection. The ramp time was super slow and would error out so I changed it to 2 seconds. Now it speeds up to about 3000 rpm quickly and then slowly rises and eventually times out. I played around with a few different speeds and it works like it should up to 3000rpm (50Hz), but once it reaches 3000 it very slowly rises till it error outs. Never making it above 100Hz or so.

That sounds like VFD config.

The VFD on my cheap chinese spindle is the other way round, a very slow ramp to 2000 rpm then it takes off up to the set speed. I haven't bothered looking for the setting that controls this.
