Ah, I thought you were on 2.8 because you have axis and joint entries in your ini. I think 2.8 would be a much better choice for a gantry.

I hear ya.
But if you save your current config and use the package manager to update linuxCNC to 2.8 and give it a try? You could always downgrade again and continue where you're at now.
And I really think 2.8 is the place to be.

so your tip was gold, i upgraded to 2.8 and now everything is working again without changing anything in the configuration.
Just one tiny thing isnt working as expected now, pre 2.8 upgrade my xhc-whb04b-6 worked perfect. halrun: loadusr xhc-whb04b-6 gave out reactions for every button on the handwheel.
Now it isnt't working anymore, i had to disable basically everything in my xhc-whb04b-6.hal to get Linuxcnc to start.
Is there something that has to be updated or maybe re-compiled after a linuxcnc upgrade to 2.8 ?
Anyway,
thank you so mutch!
Nils

There are a few threads about that in the forum if you search for xhc-whb04b-6. I'm afraid I can't give you any advice there.
