I've not understood, if the G96 is a command to change the spindle speed to have a costant cutting speed this should be the problem with my lathe, because I can't control the spindle speed.

In G96 mode the value of the HAL pin "motion.spindle-speed-out" varies according to the diameter of the work. If your configuration ignores this pin then it doesn't matter.
