Cool! That worked. I'm still not getting action from my motors tho'.
The step and direction timing must be off. I cant seem to find a direct value in the information online. Does it require some calculations or should it be clearly stated?
I am using the original 3 phase steppers (VDRM 66) with Smartrayc drivers(3DM580S). The motors are getting power and I can manage the heat generated by changing the amperage via the dip switches. So, the drivers seem to be functioning properly. Any ideas?

Normally step/dir timings are minimum values so if you use a large value
like 5000 ns or even 10000 ns, it should work with most drives.
The only disadvantage of large step length and stepspace timings
is that they will limit the maximum step rate, but this is only an issue with
higher performance step and servo drives.
The 3DM580S drives should work at 2000 ns so I suspect a wiring
or other issue. How are the step/dir signals wired to the drive?

It looks like you are using differential signaling, sometimes that doesn't
provide enough drive current. I would try at least one axis wired single ended
to see if that fixes the issue:
7I76 DRIVE
+5V --> PUL+
STEP- --> PUL-
etc

I’m sorry for my ignorance. I don’t comprehend your suggestions. Could you spell it out for me? I don’t understand differential or single ended signaling.

ugh. Tried pulling 5v from the other terminal. no joy. I tripped across an article on cnc zone regarding the servos being 72 step servos. Would that have anything to do with my issues? www.maxton.com/ebay/emco/EMCO%20Compact%...ion%20to%20Mach3.pdf

Number of steps would put the scaling off, but nothing else.

OK guys, I really need help. my projects are really starting to pile up. I saw this coming and that's why I got this lathe. Would anyone be able to connect with me via face time, or remote access to help me get through just getting everything to turn?
