Mesa 4i65 does not response was created by hardware_crash
Hey guys,

I have installed a 5i71 with Extern PCIE cable connected to the Mesa 4i73 with Mesa 4i65 on it.
When i load the the SVST8 firmware in linuxcnc i get an error message:

insmod: error inserting '/usr/realtime-2.6.32-122-rtai/modules/linuxcnc/hm2_pci.ko' : -1 Input/output error

The leds CR1 and CR3 on the 4i65 are lighting up red.

Maybe somebody knows this problem ?
Do I have the wrong firmware ?

Sincerely yours

Lukas

I tried the 4i65 with another pc and an 6i71 insted of the 5i71 and it worked properly .
So I think theres anything with the 5i71 ..

I also tried with the new ubuntu 12.04 precise and also with the 2.6pre but that doesnt change anything on the error.

the link to the 4i65 is ok.

The Error output is as following:

Dear PCW,

The strange thing is that the package is installed in lib/firmware/hm2/4i65
I got it from here buildbot.linuxcnc.org/hm2/dists/hm2-firm.../master/binary-i386/

OK thats a different error now. The first error was

hm2/hm2_4i65.0: firmware hm2/4i65/SVST8_4.BIT not found

the new error is

hm2_4i65.0: FPGA did not reset: /INIT = 1, DONE = 1
hm2/hm2_4i65.0: failed to reset fpga, aborting hm2_register

This could be be a couple of things none of which are very obvious from the error.

The 4I65 card was found which means at least configuration cycles were passed through the
5i71s bridge to the 4I73s bridge to the 4I65. but it appears that normal read/writes may not work

This can be a hardware issue on the Motherboard, a hardware issue on the 5I71,
or a BIOs issue on the motherboard. Difficult to tell without more poking around

can you do a lspci -vv on the system that does not work and post the results here?

Hi,

Please paste output from 'lspci -vnn' command.
Also try using newest mesaflash utility from github.com/micges/mesaflash to access board. (follow README how to compile).
use command 'sudo ./mesaflash --device 4i65 --verbose' and paste output (if any).

regards,
Michael

Hmm the lspci list looks OK

can you try:

sudo ./mesaflash --device 4i65 --program /lib/firmware/hm2/4i65/SVST4_8.BIT

(or some valid bit file name)
Last edit: 05 May 2014 02:38 by PCW. Reason: --write should be --program
