Heres a Linux version of the setname program:
freeby.mesanet.com/setname
export PROTOCOL=direct
export INTERFACE=elbp16
export IPADDR=192.168.1.121
./setname 7I76E-16
setname is statically linked so should run on most linux systems

I've bought my board recently too, changed name by setname, but the board still not visible imho. I'm still getting error
Unsupported ethernet device at 192.168.1.121
No 7I76E-16 board found
Could you suggest how to fix this?
Regards,
Oleg

Did you power cycle the 7I76E after running setname?
(The card name is stored in EEPROM which is only read at power up or soft reset)

Unless you need a config with additional daughtercards on the expansion connectors
the installed firmware should be fine (its the latest)
freeby.mesanet.com/7i76e.zip
is a minimal hal/ini config example file set
(note if you _just_ fetched this, refetch as the version on freeby was out of date and I just now updated it)
You may need to change the IP address in the .ini file

How do you configure the 7i76e with daughter cards?
I have a 7i85 quad encoder on first port and plan in future to add a 7i76 on the second port.
Is this configured via firmware, onboard config or via the host software (LinuxCNC?)
Thanks!

You need to have firmware that matches the daughterboard set you have
for example, a 7I76E+7I85 would use 7i76e_7i76x1_7i85x1D.bit
firmware.
LinuxCNC would need to be configured to use the added encoders
