As the message says, you will likely have to look at the dmesg log to see what the problem is
I suspect you dont have the firmware installed

It shows the firmware in the package manager. But does that mean it's installed or not?

I think I am getting close to the problem.
I think with the new computer the PCI card slot for the m5i20 is not given the card enough power. I had the PCI card plugged into a 90 deg piggy back board and red led were on. Not sure if that means there is not enough power going to the board.
With the 5i20 directly into the pic slot the computer won't even turn on? Not sure why that is happening.
Is there anyway to check voltages on the PCI slot. Does the card need 5v on the slot?

Instead of a screen shot can you run dmesg and redirect it to a file and attach the file to your message. So in a terminal clear dmesg with sudo dmesg -c then run your config then send the output of dmesg to a text file with dmesg > 5i20.txt

This is what I get when I use the SVST8_4 config after setting up my parameters the best I could.

Ok I have an update - seems as though the PC has a bad PCI slot or something which was causing the 5i20 not to work.
So I did a rough configuration and have been trying to reconfigure my system from the old hotmot4 to the HM_2.
Whats working -
All limit switches
my estop
encoders are counting and scaling correctly.
my amps are working and can be enabled.
The problem is tuning the servos.
I have input the PID settings from my older system that worked.
If I enable the system with the PWM inverted I get the motors to hum loudly like they are not tuned correctly. But they seem to be only servo'ed in one direction.
Seems like a tuning issue however I can't imagine things have changed that much from when I had a working system before.
Please see attached hal. and ini files to see where I may have gone wrong.
Any help would be appreciated.
