Above is my Safety relay setup I used with Kflop/Kanalog.

So my question is how do I seyup this in 7i76E, need 9 grounding outputs.

1. M3 spindle forward
2. M4 spindle reverse
3. Switch to high speed on AC motor = 2-speed
4. M8 coolant pump relay
5. Enable axis servos *****
6. Lubrication pump relay
7. Charge pump ??? Signal lamp connected to/via 7i73
8. Spare (possibly Z brake control)
9. Enable all

Have PC powersupply for 5VDC, assuming 5VDC in to TB3. How and where do I connect 24VDC? this will be available as soon as #9 Enable all is grounded.

*****
E-stop not in function on Safety Relay so system is dependent on E-stop within LCNC via 7i73.
Need to have Z axis brake under full controll = MUST be powered off BEFORE #5 Enable axis servos is powered down.
Very heavy Z axis knee with X axis table, if not powered off the whole package runs fast towards China if #5 is not handeled correctly.
To use brake output on servodriver is not any good solution as it goes on/off all the time depending of gcode and sound from brake is very annoying, that is the reason I want to have LCNC controll the brake. Main thing is to be powered off before servos are disabled.

Any advice is much appreciated.

Cheers
Bengt

I would reconnect as many of those as possible so that you can use the 7I76Es 24V sourcing outputs
directly

Is 5VDC OK to #9 Enable all and the 24VDC is available after enabling all, so where do I connect 24VDC as I allready have 5VDC for the logic?

It is a bit muddy for me what goes where.

24V goes to the field I/O section (Orange connector)
24V must be available before any access to field I/O pins

OK, so then I can have Enable all active from start as the field I/O needs 24VDC.

Thanks, will list all my I/O hopefully tomorrow. Then I can take out the PC PSU totally no need for 5VDC, correct?

Yes, you can run both the logic side and field I/O side of the 7I76E from 24V (so no 5V supply is needed)
to do this you apply 24V power to the field I/O section and TB3 Unreg logic pwr+ in (pins 21,22)

How can I make Z brake 'bullet-proof'?

I assume to take a suitable output to control the brake and some magic in hal to to the job.
My only concern is that whenever Z axis servodrive is not enabled/powered the brake must be out of power.
Running gcode always on until end of file and put the brake on and in manual jogging on/off asneed be.
No action = brake on
No power = brake on

Have had a few runaways so I do not want to see that happend again.

Bengt, this is not a 7i76e problem but a Linuxcnc problem. Normally I go looking in halui, motion and iocontrol and look at signals that might do the trick. Just google "linuxcnc halui man"

Anyway, I think this thread will help

forum.linuxcnc.org/38-general-linuxcnc-questions/30295-brakes

If your brake can be controlled by your servo drive then this might be useful

Hi Rod,

Yes there is a brake out on driver BUT the behaviour is not OK as it is like playing FLIPPER with brake going on/off all the time.

This is what I want to avoid.

Servo ready signal might be OK, but still need small delay so there is time to power off the brake.
