7i77 terminal numbering question? was created by Lcvette
Hello all,
I am in the process of building a wiring schematic for my machine build and have never seen a Mesa configuration page and would like to make the terminal numbering the same as in the software for less confusion down the road or if i require assistance it should make things easier to communicate my questions etc..
on the TB7 and TB8 I/O numbering, does it repeat on the TB7 and TB8 inputs and outputs or is it a continuation?
For Example:
TB7 Inputs 0-15
TB8 Inputs 0-15
or is it
TB7 Inputs 0-15
TB8 Inputs 16-31
Does that make sense? same idea for the outputs as well...
Any help appreciated as I have not yet installed Linuxcnc or the mesa cards in the computer yet.
Thanks,
Chris

The second one is correct. Continuation
Outputs are 0-7 and 8-15 respectively.

Bevins,
Thank you, can you tell me if the TB3 and TB4 are the same?
ie..
TB3 0-23
TB4 24-47
and also under which TB# does the beginning start? does it work from the opposite side of the PP plug at 0? meaning is TB8 0-15
TB7 16-31
Sorry for what is an obvious question but it is alot of wire runs on this VMC and I would prefer not to have to go through and redo them and have not yet powered up the new computer to load Linuxcnc yet..
Thanks!
Chris

I would have to check the manual. Everything is in the 7i77manual. But from memory, the connector closest to the edge with the db25on the left starts at the bottom inputs 0-15 then outputs 0-7 respectively. The connect on the left of that one starts on the bottom with inputs 16-31 and then ouputs 7-5 respectively.

24 pin terminal blocks are numbered 1 .. 24
8 pin terminal blocks are numbered 1 .. 8
Pin 1 is at the bottom (also marked in manual)
See page 4 of manual

right but i saw a screenshot of the mesa configuration that showed them starting at 0 in the software.. I would like to keep everything from the schematic to the software the same for easy troubleshooting.. is that numbering in the software not correct?
so confused

The pins on the board start at 1. The inputs in the software start at 0,
Look in the 7i77 manual on page 11.
TB8 pin1 => input0
TB8 pin2 => input1

No,what are you going to do with output 0 then?
Board terminal numbers are just that. Has nothing to do inputs outputs. Just a label so you can relate them to whatever is on those pins, so you know where to connect wires.
