They are Optical encoders with two sets output that goes into the drive. one is quad diff I think and the other set is single ended.
1st output
PA0
/PA0
PB0

PC0
/PC0
2nd output:
PHA
PHB
PHC
I am pretty sure I can connect these to a 7i77 and they will work.

That looks promising for sure, especially the part with UVW !!! I can bet my beehind those can and are used for commutation !
Now to figure out how exactly.
Bevins, thank you.

The UVW are hall commutation signals and they provide trapezoidal commutation of the motor.
Just read that.

Then the hardest part now rhen becomes getting a hold of some 8i20cards.
Doesnt seem like any are available.

The encoder disc then has to be aligned to the motor poles.
The Hall sensors do not actually have to be inside the motor.

There would normally be 3 Hall signals that ripple in a 120 degree phase relationship. US Digital, Renco and Avago make "six channel" encoders that have both ABZ and Hall outputs in one encoder. You have to order the disc that has the right number of motor poles to match the motor windings/magnets.Question : regarding hal sensors, does it have to be only one, or 3 for each winding one? What about placement? They must be at a certain place inside the motor?

If we have decided that you have Hall sensors then you could look at the Pico drives.

I thought of those but they are only good to 120v 20A output.
Dont think they will take the big 1.8KW aC servo's from Yaskawa. Not sure but my gut feeling is they wont.
