By the way
- i write an documentation for that complete configuration!
A Quick Beginners Guide for People with LinuxCNC and MESA-Cards like the 7i97.
I do this on every project - so i can remember things i'm doing in the past.
And here so many missing infos for BEginners - so i write my own Step-by-Step Guide.
So if someone can explain me how to put the infos later in the Wiki will be fine.

For a 7I97 (which is quite different from a 7I92/7I77 combo)
you should start with the "basic 7i97" config file set:

@PCW,
yes i have found it above in the thread - and have changed ip to fit my card - so it works. Want to check out all Solutions for my Documentation also pncconf - by the way - the ip is here in the basic7i97 also the 192.168.1.121 not the 10.10.10.10.. it looks like there is more confusing with this sense of IP's.
But have i use an editor and simply configure by hand? That is very oldschool like Scotty say "Computer Hello Computer" to an mouse-input-device )
But okay... will test it out...

Yes, normally pncconf is just for creating a basic configuration file set,
you almost always need to edit the hal/ini files for customization.

Hello,
so one question... if i have the *.ini-file with the machine-setup and a hardware file like the *.hal - where can i configure which Pin of the Mesa 7i97 i connected with which function?
The 7i97 have:
P1 (Expansion),
TB1 (Encoders 0-2),
TB2(Encoders 3-5),
TB3(Analog Out),
TB4 (Input/RS422),
TB5 (I/O)
If i want to connect my Encoder from X-Axis to TB1 Encoder 0 - where can i do this? Is there a missing file for physical pin-mapping?
For example if i have P1 Pin 1 of the 7i97 then it is what for a name in hal? Or similar TB1 Encoder 0 is Pin 1 to 8 of the 7i97. So there is some mapping for that? Or an Overview of the HotMot Driver?
So here missing 7i97:

net x-pos-fb <= [HMOT](CARD0).encoder.00.position
net x-pos-fb => pid.x.feedback

This is done with these statements in the hal file:If i want to connect my Encoder from X-Axis to TB1 Encoder 0 - where can i do this? Is there a missing file for physical pin-mapping?
net x-pos-fb <= [HMOT](CARD0).encoder.00.position
net x-pos-fb => pid.x.feedback

Yes i know - but what pin is what name? I see on the Card P1, TP1, Tp2... but in the HAL-File not? So somewhere a pin mapping?
Or a excel-table to see what pin of the mesa-card have what name for the hal-file... found nothing about this... my thoughts about this is some firmware-informations from mesa for the card - but in the folder there are missing many cards with there pin-mapping - for a mesa 7i43 there is a pin mapping file in the folder i wrote above.

The general TB pin to function mapping (for standard firmware) is in the manual,
and also reported by mesaflash (for any firmware).

In the Mesa 7i97 Manual there is not any information about that.
On the Mesa-Website there is a link to Supported Software which contains also the basic hal and ini-files. But no mapping. I will contact mesa for that.
Thank you
