Yes, it seems an entirely satisfactory stepper driver, but it is being mis-described.

Just for fun, here is the widget I described.

Thank you for reminding me, i had forgotten about this

A perfect idea to cram in an ESP32 on every drive and have only power go to each drive/motor :)
I wonder what happens when the pilot arc strikes on a plasma...

Looks like if you buy a Tb 6600 you really don’t know what you get.
I had bought another Tb 6600 and tested it.
Stepper motor much noisier with that new one with the same micro stepping. Outside they look the same but the new ones plastic cover. Last week I cut a large sine and one of the steppers stopped moving so. Lots of material waisted.

So I did run the program again with the torch off same happens at the same place. So I added two 80 mm fans to cool the drivers
Now I can run the programs three times in a row and everything runs fine. So tomorrow I will try to cut the sign. I run them on 2.5 amps . The one for the Z axis runs on 1.5 amps. So I can affirm they are probably reliable for up to 1.5 amps so I am looking for a replacement.

I am considering a Chinese Dm556 or a TMC 2160 How much can they handle in reality?

Does anyone on this Forum use them can they handle 3Amps in reality?

I use stepper online dm542t and dm556 have over 50 of them in operation on machines running at least 8 hours a day and have never had any issues with them. I have never measured the current to see if they are getting 3 amps but I will say they are stronger than any of the tb6600 boards I've seen.

I find it very assuring. No seller seems to think quoting any opertating voltage would be a clever idea.

If those basics are not covered I tend to stay away from offers.

p.s. The NEMA23 only refers to the frame size (mount hole pattern) the electrical specification is totally independent from that.
Voltages, current and how fast you need to run your motor are more important.
