Anilam with 7i97 was created by Kylizer

I'm not sure how different the 3000M is from the 1100M but I basically tossed out everything but the drives and power supply and use a 5i25 and 7i77 (7i92's were not available then). IIRC the drives had to have the enable pin grounded to enable them, so I use a relay for that.
This was from BigJohnT in another forum post and I was wondering if someone could go a little more in depth about "IIRC the drives had to have the enable pin grounded to enable them, so I use a relay for that."
I am at this specific point on my setup which is an Anilam 3000M but with a Mesa 7i97 board.

There's a pin on each drive on the 1100M that if not grounded the drives won't power up. Just depends on what drives you have.

Do you know what the pin was on yours that you had to enable?

My guess is pin 9 on J1, do you have a photo of your drive?
I'll have to look tomorrow, snowed in and cooking some gumbo...

Those are different servo drives than mine. The inhibit pin sounds like it inhibits the drive not enables the drive.

oh, well I guess I was assuming the inhibit was just another word for enable. Im guessing that inhibit is something that has to happen along with enabling maybe? Also I have my encoders set up single and because I thought that is how the amplifier had it but I read that my amp can be used for differential as well. Do you suppose that it matters much whether I run my stuff single or differential ended?
Oh I thanks for all the help man. Your one of the only people I have seen on this forum who also has done a conversion from an old Anilam system. Tough to find much on it.

Differential is the best for electrical noise for sure.
If you disconnect the inhibit does the drive take control of the servo?
