Need help to wire and config Mesa 7i92TM was created by CollieBabaX
Hi guys, I'm new here. I have a cheap CNC router from China with a USB BOB BL-USBMach-v2.1, TSS-TB6560-V1.0 driver, and SHOVIT STEPPER MOTOR 57HS56-4204JA635-D24 (Nema 23?) stepper motors. I bought it to learn how to use it (I'm polymechanic and have used industrial CNC machines in the past) and then do some mechanical upgrades in the future. I wanted to use Mach3 but now I would like to use LinuxCNC. Is this BOB compatible with LinuxCNC? If it is not compatible, I could immediately buy a new BOB, for example a Mesa 7I76E. But then these cheap drivers and stepper motors would be compatible with this BOB? In the future I would like to do a lot of upgrades and change the stepper motors too but not now. What do you advise me to do? Thank you

USB BOB does not work with LinuxCNC, but the driver board might be easy to use so upload a picture of the driver board.

Here are the pictures. I would like to make a simple router, with just home switch, limit switch, coolant (maybe), MPG and a bit powerful spindle and with a bit big collet holder (like ER20 or something like that). Is the BOB Mesa 7I76E necessary or is there something more suitable? Which is the most used BOB Mesa? What if I also want to add the tool change? It's possible?

-Get rid of the green board with the USB port
-Get a normal cheap $15 BOB, it can be done even without this
-Find a PC with parallel port, or get a PCI or PCI-E add on card for $15
-Find a parallel port cable, usually comes with the BOB
---
Or forget all that and go for a Mesa 7i92 or 7i96 or 7i76E
--
BTW, Mesa 7i76 is not a normal BOB, it requires being attached to a Mesa 5i25 or 6i25 or 7i92 or.....
And also notice there are three types of 7i76
-7i76
-7i76D
-7i76E <<this one does not require anything else, it connects to PC via ethernet.

Ok now I'm considering a Mesa 7i92m.
With the 7i92m can I use a generic breakout board like the one in the attachments to connect the drivers/stepper motors and all the inputs/outputs?
Where can I find a wiring diagram to understand the various connections well?
I am a little confused.
Sorry I'm really noob in this field!

It's more expensive, but a 7i96 might fit into the box more readily.
Though the 7i92 has the advantage of being in stock at Mesa.
Which continent are you on? You might want to consider local availability.

Yes, you can use such a board, but you need to be very careful wiring stuff to it as Mesa 7i92 is sensitive to any negative voltage and anything above 7V will destroy it, i think.
To make things simpler, look at Mesa 7i92 as a parallel port (well it has 2 of them), but much, much faster.
The pinout can be the same as a parallel port, and you can use a cheap BOB just to be safer on wiring.

Ok now I'm starting to understand a little bit how it works.
Will I need to connect something to the 7i92m's P1 HDR26 connector as well? If so, can I use a cable like the one I put in the attachments, strip every single wire and make connections via a terminal block? Because I haven't found a breakout board for this connector.
