Greetings,

I am planing to purchase some mesa board but due to unavailability of ethernet based FPGA board i am planning purchase Mesa 5I24-25 and it based on PCI Card but PC(Dell Optiplex 790 SFF) i bought for this project is having PCIe 2.0 x16 so does 5I24 would work with PCIe X16 slot or i will required any adapter ?

And Does it will effect on performance ? And is Ethernet board are any better then PCI based ?

There are PCI to PCI-E adapter boards, but i doubt you can fit them inside an SFF case.
Not much diference betwen ethernet and PCI/PCI-E, except for plasma, easier to arange stuff to protect from interference.
Performance is the same.

Right Tom, but in case of closed loop and fast servo threads the pci is much better ... I have an i7 with 5i23 reaches 20 khz without problems. i think ethernet stops much sooner.

Really?
Well i know they can all do abut 4KHz, but 20, that is niceeee.
Although i never had a need for anything over 1KHz on closed loop servos.
Do you have Torque mode drives, that might need faster servo period.

I have the 7i40 hv which is practically halfway between speed and torque I was told, it goes at 8khz. the one that goes to 20 is the i7 of the plasma with 7i30, but I had to put it back to 4khz because the thc from standstill was jerking of 2 volts ... probably could not follow. however it is done to try at 4khz we are already in place

Last I looked Mesa still has seven 7i96s boards in stock. They are set up for plasma in mind.    Its a 5v board with isolated i/o. Two of them AC ready. We got a couple and I like them. You will need 2.9 installed from buildbot though.

I have 7i96S and THCAD cards in stock as well.

Don't forget to use my Mesa Configuration Tool , it's the only one that can make a configuration for the 7i96S.

Well i am going to converting a conventional horizontal boring mill (Union BFT90/3) to CNC HBM with dual encoder feed back so i have to setup something that could handle 6 Step/Dir( 5 Axis + 1 Spindle) and 11 Encoder Feedback ( 6 Velocity and 5 Position) and and about 90 input and 40 output so originally i have planed to with 7I80HD-25 + 7I52S + 7I52 + 7I84D(X3) OR 6I24-25 + 7I52S + 7I52 + 7I84D(X3) but unfortunately 7I80HD-25 and 6I24-HD both are unavailable.
