7i76E any updates?

I've noticed sourcing output driver IC's are pretty hard to get ahold of and alot of stuff is obsoleted. Had a hard time finding something to replace a UDN2982 that's in stock and not obsolete. I've never found anything great for wide range inputs. Best thing I've found is to use a 2803 darlington array and use the input side for the field inputs, seems to work pretty good but it's inverted and I'm sure there's something better.

Any chance you can share how you manage that on the field end of the card? Curious what you do for ranged voltage inputs too. I have a 7i76e, 7i96 and 7i96s but I don't feel like ripping them out to study, just curious anyway.Same layout, differences are sinking, sourcing, or pushpull outputs
(hal settable)

The new 7I76E uses NCV7724 (or DRV8908) for outputs
They have 500 ma per channel and sink, source or push pull
outputs and no external clamp diodes needed for up to full load.
Inputs are the same as the original 7I76E (analog, RC filtered 50 KHz
input sample rate which is easy with the CPUs 4 MS/sec 12 bitA-D)
These analog values are processed to set the threshold and
hysteresis of the input detection

Still a ways off, First board with new driver chips will be the 7I84U

Thanks PCW. Is the current best thing the 7i92TF or M and 7i76 combination, at least for this year?
I am just trying to plan a few up coming builds.

May i suggest:
7i96S and 7i84 = 5 stepgens, spindle with encoder, and plenty of IO, mixed mode IO so 5V and/or 24V as 7i84 has two separate supplies and easy to wire with a cut off CAT5/6 cable.
or lately i am aiming for 7i96S and 7i77 as it is the definitive "be all, end all" combo, and it can be readily found.
And keep in mind that 7i96S can have many more stepgens/PWM/encoders on the IDC26 headers.

Thanks tommylight . After looking them over I see what you mean, and basically they are the same price when combined.

I agree with Tommy - the 7i96S + 7i84 is a powerful combo.
If you want two smart serial cards, the 7i96 only has one channel (I think that's the term) directly available, and one expansion port.
I wanted both a 7i84 and 7i73 for field IO and operator panel... so the easiest thing was to get a 7i85s rather than a sserial expander. Not much price difference and allows future stepgens and linear scale inputs.

I was board today so I looked at the Mesa site and gasped when I had seen the new 7i76eu. Is it true ? is the 7i76e universal coming soon?
