k field power is on. i now have leds. the "upper" 4 are yellow. the lower right ones are off/red. and when i start up linuxcnc (old config) one starts flashing the red goes away. So the card is definitely alive and well and talking.

I just have no way to access it or config it. Still nothing referencing the card in any way either in a newly created hal, pncconf, or mesaflash.. i would have expected a selectable item in mesaflash (7i96+7i77) like it has for other setups. Is that what i SHOULD see?

Pncconf has no idea what is connected so I would not expect any
new firmware options

If you are chiefly interested in a 7I77 configuration, I would select
a 7I92+7I77 configuration in pncconf, create a hal/ini file set
and then change the card name in the ini file from 7i92 to 7i96s

I used discovery and it shows me the 6 encoders on "P1", although I do not see the analogue or IO. So, something is there. ha.

What I am trying to do here is add in the encoders and analogue axis functions to the already existing pulse axes on the 7i96. plus IO.

Is this just a matter of hal merging and editing then?

Yes, that's basically a merging issue with some complications with
shared components like the PID instantiation. For this, the loadrt lines
need to be merged (so the have all the names needed for both the stepgen
and analog PID channels)

Oh, i think that makes sense. My axis on the 7i77 dont show cause they conflict with the ones on the 7i96.

So this is fine. I will revisit in a few days to try to get it all running. need to replace the floor where the machine is sitting first! :P
