A lot of those designs use 4 motors. Just something to bear in mind.

Motor 1: X Axis (forth and back)
Motor 2: Y Axis (left and right)
Motor 3: Z Axis (up and down)
Motor 4: where is this one placed? To turn the router or a cylindric workpiece?

Many Thanks

"Gantry" designs frequently use a motor at each side of the gantry, so either 2 x Y or 2 x X.
others use one motor to move a table under the gantry, and yet others use one motor to drive two screws, or a shaft with two belts or chains.

There are lots of different ways to do it :-)

What are the major benefits for 2 motors at a axis?
Precision, reducing the Tension for a single motor?

I really appreciate all the help! It's much better to understand the problems before building!

Thanks

those stepper drives are fine ,
on thing i would change is the power supply
the stepper drives are capable of 50v dc max
so i'd go with a 48v @10A or greater amperage if you can afford it
