well, its off by a fair bit. the spec of the p5 motor is 1 ohm. my motor is 2 ohms.
i translates the hex to numbers... some of them are obvious, 4 poles, 3600 rpm, most dont correlate to anything on the spec sheet. some are common among many motors. none of them look like they could mean 1 ohm either. why cant they have normal parameters like everyone else?
anyhow, i guess we'll just try it and see. the drives are here, i need to wait for a special serial cable first before playing with em.

DC resistance might not be one of the most important characteristics.
It's probably difficult to work out what the coil inductance and moment of inertia are, but they are likely to be in there.

inertia is in the spec sheet, but the numbers dont relate to any in that list - at least not directly. but being hex, you dont know if any of the byes are a sign, a decimal, etc. so it could be a bad translation. i suspect inertia between the new and old motors will be nearly the same. same shaft diam, same size. old motor is a few mm longer. inductance isnt in the spec sheet. it does have KV, torque constant and a few other (going by memory here, ill link it later)
im pretty sure the 512 is encoder lines default setting. which is then editable. i expect only a handful of parameters in that list are important to get right within that file.
but, am i understanding that you think it should still "work", just potentially not work "well"? correct?
thanks.

alo, thats the spec sheet for the p5 motor. i have nothing for my existing motor, other than resistance which i can measure.

Indeed. Little to be lost by trying.

sweet, thanks.

page 279 has the specs for the p5 motor that matches that parameter list.

ok, so i cant communicate with the drives via the pc app. i suspect its the usb to serial adapter. ive checked and rechecked my cable and it seems fine. going to try a computer with built in serial.
on the bright side, the drives power up, read the encoder, lock up the motor, and "try" to spin the motor. so, its just going to be a matter of getting compatible settings and tuning.
