hmm, I see the first half of that is easy enough, haha. (I'm at home now, so no machine in front of me, just reading the docs). just tie that button (axis.0.amp-enable-out) to an output to that relay.
so its more now attaching the brake release to that, timed a few seconds afterward.

This was discussed on another thread in the last couple of days.

Use the machine-on signal to turm on your main relay.
Then send machine-on to a timedelay component to enable your brake. Easy!
timedelay has an on delay and an off delay pin so you can decide when to trigger it when you turn it off. Probably with a time off delay of 0.

Do you want it to be a few seconds later every time? Is there an Amp-ready signal from the Z-axis drive that could be used instead? That seems like it might be a better way.
a time-delay on a HAL signal is very easy, though.

well, when the normal control starts up... the brake disengages a second or so after the power engages. it seems not to be relying on feedback from the amp (because it does it even with the amps control cable disconnected.
the only feedback from the amp besides encoder we get is an alarm which I think only goes high for an error.
so I'm not sure if there is a "smart" way to release the brake here.

Connecting the brake to the alarm sounds like a good idea to me.
Does the alarm go off after amp-enable, or is it always off?
Have you worked out how to use the timedelay HAL function?

I'm at work so ill figure that out tonight.
the alarm - hmmmmm. that's one scenario didn't look at. I bet it does. that would make it pretty sensible, as the drives are powered on their control side when the machine starts - before the main power is engages, so it stands to reason they would alarm until they have full power.
thanks

So first roadblock.
Error could not insert module.... invalid parameters.
Down at the bottom... config num encoders 6 but only 2 available.
What did I do wrong?
