Hi,
I would like to ask you if any of you have experience with Automatic tool changer WITHOUT need of pneumatic device.
I have not seen any such a machine so far, but I would expect it is possible when the lever torque for tightening
the tool is high enough.
I want to avoid the pneumatics due to the money issue.
Thanks for ideas.
Jiri

hi
the pneumatic is to take out the tool not only the lamp fix
the tool will stick on mechanical and may take the complete ATC with it to the next gcode line
there are Manuell mecanicel tool changers that provide your need as you explain
so yu change the tool yourself with the Clamp/Holder so all tool length are in the system
you can get a NOICE to informe at the toolchange so from office you kow when and dont need to wait

I saw a neat video of one DIY that used the tool caddy and the way movement to break loose the collet nut, then spun the spindle to unwind the collet...did the reverse to tighten. The tool caddy's holes were made hex shape to capture the nut.

The one that Andy mentioned but i could not find it today, i did see it several times.
And you have to make it clearer what you need, do you want it without a pneumatic arm or without pneumatic in the spindle.
