are these cards supported yet? even with 2.5?

SPI -mesa 7i64 7i66 7i69 7i71

i've been looking for any info, ( -probably in the wrong places) and found nothing!SPI -mesa 7i64 7i66 7i69 7i71

Currently only the 7I64 (and 8I20) are supported by 2.5. This is with SSERIAL/SSLBP not SPI. We are working on updating the SSLBP firmware so it will work with all the new cards (7I66, 7I69, 7I70, 7I71, 7I73, 7I76, 7I77) Unlike the 8I20 and 7I64, which have remote card specific code both in the FPGA firmware and the driver, we are doing firmware support for the new boards in a more generic manner, with "parameter discovery" so new remote boards can be added without driver or firmware changes.

Pete is sending me hardware (I think).

What's your schedule? If you have an application and are happy to do the testing, you can probably safely buy the cards now ias long you are prepared to be part of the development process. (ie, be sent patches, compile a dev version of EMC2 and report back the results. That isn't particularly difficult)
We are probably talking in terms of weeks for the first development code, months for a tested, stable release, and probably a year until EMC2 mainline.

I seem to be a bit slower than normal today... what does the 7I66, 7I69, 7I70, 7I71, 7I73, 7I76, 7I77 series of cards plug into?

You can connect them straight to an FPGA card (I think) but normally you would use the 7i44.

You can connect 8 of this card family into each FPGA header.

A minor point: Other than the 7I76 and 7I77, these are all RS-422 serial cards that require a differential full duplex interface so cannot directly connect to the FPGA card. Daughter cards that provide a RS-422 interface include the 7I44 (8 channels RJ 45 connectors), 7I47 (4 channels terminal block), 7I52 (6 channels terminal block), 7I34 ( 8 channels header connector)

The limit of channels per connector is actually 12 but there are currently no 12 channel RS-422 daughter cards.

The 7I76 and 7I77 are daughter cards for 25 pin I/O FPGAs (like the 5I25) they have embedded SSERIAL I/O devices to reduce interface pin requirements

Peter,

Thanks so much for explaining that. We need some kind of diagram to keep all that clear... I'll try and work on something as time permits.

Thanks
John

Lets see

50 pin I/O FPGA cards:

PCI 5I20,5I22,5I23

USB/PARALLEL 7I43, 7I61

50 pin daughter cards/motor drives compatible with 50 pin FPGA cards:

7I25,7I27,7I29,7I30,7I31,7I32,7I33,7I34,7I37,7I39,7I40,7I42,7I44,7I46,7I47,7I48,7I49,7I52,7I65

25 pin I/O PGFA cards
PCI 5I25

25 pin I/O daughter cards compatible with 5I25:

7I74,7I75,7I76,7I77,7I78

Remote serial daughter cards/drives

7I64,7I66,7I69,7I70,7I71,7I73, 8I20

50 pin RS-422 interface daughter cards needed between FPGA card and remote serial cards

7I34 (8 ch)
7I44 (8 ch)
7I47 (12 ch but awkward SSERIAL wiring as its pined out for encoders)
7I52 (6 ch)

25 pin RS-422 daughter cards needed between FPGA card and remote SSERIAL device

7I74 (8 ch)
7I76 (1 ch)
7I77 (1 ch)
7I78 (1 ch)
