Strange error: Bad character 'a' used

Hey guys

I'm really new to all of this so please bear with me. When I try to open up a .ngc file in EMC2 I get an error that says:

G-Code error in FirstCut.ngc

Near line 12 of /home/cornelius/Desktop/FirstCut.ngc
Bad character 'a' used

I'm not sure if this is a problem with the .ngc file created by meshcam or if it's a problem with EMC2. Also, after I click "ok" in the dialog box nothing loads and I'm just left with a blank workspace. I don't see toolpaths or any of the geometry that I saw in Meshcam or Inventor.

Right now my software chain goes Autodesk Inventor -> .stl file -> Meshcam -> .ngc file -> EMC2. Any help would be much appreciated.

Thanks

PS I'm posting the same question over on the Meshcam forum as well

Can you post the first 15 lines of this G-code file?

This error means that you are using an "A" word on a machine which does not have an A-axis.
If your machine _does_ have an A axis, then the problem is in the INI file. Look for a line saying COORDINATES and add A to the list.
This would be a very odd problem to find on a machine which was configured by stepconf, though. Is this a hand-built machine config?

This error will occur anytime an "a" is found when not expected even if it is not used as an axis.

G4 a

will produce it.
