Freeze up on tool change

I am using 2.4.7 and any updates that Ubuntu has needed.

Every time I issue a Tx M6...the interface just freezes and does nothing.
Tried Axis and Mini GUI's and both are doing the same.
The program gets to the tool change line and just sits there and says "running".

For now, I will just comment the line out...but it has been very fustrating.

Is this a manual tool change?

Yes John it is a manual tool change.
I can use an M00 to get the job done, but I am teaching students and want to them to learn how it would be done in a real enviromnet.

Depending on how you set up your config you need a tool change loop. This is how the tool change loop is done.

Had the same problem a few days ago. I *think* that it was because of an empty tool table, or a tool that didn't exist in the tool table.
But I'm not sure, I try to do this again now in my test machine and it does not freeze ..

Calling a tool that is not in the tool table will throw an error.

You can get this if (for some reason) the tool-change dialog pops up in the background. It's worth moving the Axis window to look...

Tool was in the table, no error.....just sits there.

The manual tool change code was the answer to the problem.

It took me awhile to figure out what/where this hal file is. Especiall confusing since when I installed the new EMC2 2.4.7 instead of whiping out all the orginal stuff, it kept it. Now every time I run the emc or config, it wants to make the changes to the OLD EMC files not the new. Very confusing.
