Encoder on Mill Spindle, What can I do besides RPM was created by Harry_Y
I am adding an encoder to my Lathe Spindle for threading (100 pules per rev + index)
(actually Quadrature, but only using what is needed)
If I add one to my Mill Spindle, What other capabilities
does it give me besides just reading RPM
Thank you

If you use both the A and B phase plus Z index you can rigid tap on both if EMC has control of the spindle and can reverse the spindle. Also with the encoder on the lathe you now can have CSS (Constant Surface Speed).

I may need to look into adding speed and reversing control
