slaving axis together was created by boblee
Hi Everyone
Does EMC have a provision for slaving two axis together like Mach 3 that I currently use?
I have twin steppers on my x-axis and they are tied together thru the slave feature in the Mach3 software .
I'm wanting to switch to EMC will I be able to do this in EMC too?
Thanks
Bob

I'm still reading the manual trying to get my Ubuntu box working I had to buy a video card.
Should I partition this IBM Lenovo box to run only Ubuntu ? right now I have it installed inside XP and my max jitter is around 49,000 would making this box strictly Ubuntu improve that any?

You might just try and boot from the LiveCD and see what the latency test reveals. If it is older hardware try the 8.04 LiveCD to see if the latency is better. Once you decide to use that computer I would not have anything on the hard drive but Ubuntu... just my 2 cents.

I wasn't aware I could run the latency test from the live CD I'll give it a try .
My box is a: 2005 / Intel P4 / 3.0 ghz. / with 1 gb ram / onboard video and audio disabled .
I was reading the EMC docs. and noticed that previous versions were limited to 1 gb of ram do you know if this is still the case for the latest live cd release Ubuntu 10.04 / with EMC 2.4.7?

Thanks again

I don't know but I bet a quick look on the Ubuntu web site will get you the answer. If you have a quad core then you want to only use 1 cpu by using isolcpus, here is one link on the wiki

wiki.linuxcnc.org/cgi-bin/emcinfo.pl?The..._Parameter_And_GRUB2

I think there is more...
