Is there any other way to access the IRC without having to use JAVA
as it has adverse effects on my design software (pro-engineer wildfire 5)
same thing as creo I have had problems with JAVA in the past and would prefer not to have to use it

I use X Chat but it is pay for Winblows so if your not on a satellite connection the Firefox plugin Chatzilla works great.

Yea, wireless is ok, just the long latency of using a service like WildBlue (which I'm forced to use) and Chatzilla (which I like better than XChat) times out a zillion times a day so you flood the IRC with leave joins.
