That ought to be simpler than PLT to G-code.
Have you tried SheetCAM, for example? (www.sheetcam.com/downloads.shtml)

is there is a program out thare that will convert plt to ngc?

PLT is an output file for controlling a plotter, so it is quite likely to not include some data that a G-code converter would need.
For example, the geometry may well be scaled to paper-size, and have no data on actual physical size.

Can you save it in any other formats at this stage?

It would be really helpful to know what a .plt file looks like.

If you really want to work with HPGL files, take a look at HP2XX www.delorie.com/gnu/docs/hp2xx/hp2xx.1.html I have used it on Linux, but I think there is a windows version too.

Edit, that is a dead link, I will repair it soon ... done.

From VinylMaster's web site...

Can I operate an Engraver or Router?

Yes. VinylMaster can operate many engravers and routers and also exports .dxf which nearly all engravers and routers use to operate with their bundled software.

If you are using windows you may want to take a look here, it is simple, free and works...

www.dakeng.com/ace.html

Export your file as dxf then use Ace Converter to convert the dxf file to a ngc file that Linuxcnc can understand.

don't forget i have a problum exporting dxf files.
no matter what i export it comes out too big.
exporting 1" it inports as 24.400" not
24.400mm.
i don't know how to fix it .
even the software makers can't fix it .
i can export as .ai .
will that work?

What program are you using to read the dxf files that is showing the size is wrong?
If it is a CAD program you can scale the project there then export it.
If 1" =25.4 " output and you cannot change the inch metric problem can you scale your work in Vinyl Master by a factor of 25.4?

Set the LinuxCNC machine to metric (G21) and it will scale down the numbers by a factor of 25.4. That will probably fix the problem.
(Just accept that you are being given metric DXF files)
