Ken,
The 7i76 card needs 24vdc power to the field power. When this is not present the 5i25 does not "see" the 7i76 so nothing will work.

As John T. mentioned, you only want to connect to the 201's STEP/DIR and COMMON pins

OK, just to confirm that I have it right.
3 leads from the 7I76 for each axis. X, Y, & Z axis equals 9 leads. No ground wires from 7I76 TB2 to 201's.
From BigJohnT'sTutorial page "The 7i76 I/O needs 8 - 32vdc field power connected to TB1 Pins 1(+) and 8(0vdc) to work."
Can I simply use a 24V transformer and bridge rectifier to input 24VDC to pins 1 and 8 on TB1? I'm not sure what the (0vdc) on pin #8 is? I don't want to assume that it is the negative from the 24vdc?
thanks,
Ken
