Hi All,
New to this forum and linuxcnc. I have some questions.
I have 2 cnc routers and 1 cnc lathe and 1 cnc mill all running mach3.
I have plans for a 5 axis machine and need a better controller with TCP etc and encoder input.
The main thing to begin with is how easy it would be to convert to linuxcnc and what parts will be required.
Any help will be apperciated.
Thanks
John

If these are stepper machines I can convert the mach xml file to a stepconf wizard file that will generate the basic configurations. The only thing you need to do is run the latency test and input that number into the stepconf wizard as mach doesn't know about latency.

Thanks John,
All my mills use dmmtech servo systems inc there bob, these are controlled by step and direction, and closed loop through the driver.
Do i need any other hardware?

I would think as your already running Mach3 via the parrell port , then you should be fine and just need John to convert the Mach3 configuration for you
would be the quick way to get up and running ,
if this it the bob your using
www.dmm-tech.com/Files/DMB4250-8B_BreakoutVer010106.pdf
then we are correct it's just a config needed either convert an existing mach3 , or generate a new one using stepconf in linuxcnc , and you shouldbe up and running
regards and welcome to Linuxcnc

If it is controlled by the parallel port it should be a straight forward swap out.

You can just attach the xml files to this post and I'll convert them with my magic converter.
