Anilam Crusader II convert to linux was created by sparky58
Hello, newbie here... I'm considering the linux convert for my 1984 crusader II, don't know a thing about it but am willing to learn. I have a pc with linux installed, but don't know where to go from there.
Any help would be appreciated.

A good start would be to read this article:
code.google.com/p/sector67-sandbox/wiki/ProjectSheetCake
Though there are quite a few things that they did that I would do differently. Partly because other hardware options have appeared since.

Hi, read thru the article.... looks pretty complex, but understandable. I was wondering if it would be possible to use the existing components, basically replacing the old cpu w/the pc?

Yes, and that is largely what I would suggest doing.
The project in that link made things rather hard by arranging to be able to put the old controller back on.
The first thing to do is to make sure you know where analogue control signals go in, and where encoder signals come out...
