Can anyone suggest a USB Wireless Card that is 100% compatible with Ubuntu Linux? OR better yet how can I make my Intel Motherboard BOXD525MW connect wireless to my 75 feet away Router?

Best thing I know of is to run some CAT5E over to your router.

I don't recall any happy stories about wireless and Ubuntu...

Use a pair of homeplugs between a ringmain socket near your router (not an extension lead) and a socket in your workshop, and then connect with ethernet

Mine work 200ft from the house.

Don't bother with wireless, it does not like motors, metal and concrete or long distances.

Is that the same as the X10 things for your house?

That's a great idea, I think I will forget about wireless and buy one of this:

Just do a bit of research on the specs, there are a variety of speeds 85, 100, 200 MBs and some specify range ie the length of cable it will work over.

Mine are just 85MBs Solwise units, much cheaper than Netgear etc but work fine

I have a WiFi Homeplug adaptor in the workshop, which means I can use my smartphone down there (so long as I don't have a machine running)

Yep, a higher bandwidth version of X10 that came out in the 70's

I am using www.currys.co.uk/gbuk/cisco-linksys-plsk...er-13927476-pdt.html to link two CNC machines and an IP camera in the garage to my home network. And I still have a spare network socket for the future.
It's worth knowing that the multi-port ones exist.

Not sure if you've seen my recent post, but I developed a simple solution that allows me to use a PCI WiFi card but automatically disable the driver if Axis or Latency Test are running...

www.linuxcnc.org/index.php/english/forum...iver-auto-loadunload

EDIT:
The above is only going to be useful if you can get a decent signal with a wifi card. Your best bet would be to try connecting to your router over wifi using a mobile phone, tablet, laptop, netbook, etc from your machine location. If any of those have a weak signal, then wireless is not the way forward...
