Hi All,
I recently viewed a YouTube video showing a lathe spindle being turned by hand while threading. This showed me that it is possible to thread without steady spindle speed. Is this possible in linuxcnc? How?

LinuxCNC uses realtime feedback from an encoder on the spindle to do this.
No lathe has a perfectly steady spindle speed, especially when entering and exiting cuts repeatedly like during threading.

This is linuxcnc doing the same thing...
You do need an encoder on the spindle with a decent number of counts. (3 channel A, B and Z)
