Hi ,
Is it possible to use spindle speed feed back to control feed rate? I am trying to set up linux cnc to operate a quilting machine.

My thought was to use an index pulse or encoder to monitor machine speed. with a set number of stitches per inch, factor a feed rate set point to maintain stitches per inch. x and y axis will have about 200 steps per inch, a work space of 16 inches by 120 inches. Will get back to the manual.
Thanks

That may be as simple as using G95 feed-per-rev mode.
Or you may need to use adaptive feed.
