Download problems - no menus at all on 10.04

I placed the LinuxCNC iso on a CD and loaded it into my computer. It went through all the steps for installation.
The O.S. (LinuxCNC 10.04) knows enough to ask for my password, but it presents no menus items to use to execute functionality. Any comments about how to get this installation to be able to do something?

Do you mean you cannot find a menu item for Linuxcnc or that you don't have any menus at all?

If it recurs when you re-boot you probably need to re-install from a fresh iso download, can be from corrupted image.
