Hi

Try just logging in as yourself first, if you have a single user system, you will be the administrator.

If that fails, reboot and boot the recovery option (the kernel line shown has (recovery mode) after it) from GRUB
If you don't get a menu, reboot and hold down Esc and Shift keys until it appears

recovery mode will take you into a root shell
From that shell at the prompt type
passwd root
Then supply a password twice when prompted
Then type
passwd -u root
then
reboot -n

Now you have a root user set up you can use that for administrator

i appreciate all the help you gyas or trying to give me.
maybe i'm asking too much!
the only thing i know about a computer is how to run
my cad program.
if someone would be kind enough to let me call them
(on my dime) and walk me thru this step by step it
would help me a lot more than typing words that i don't
know the meaning of.
give me a convenient time to call you.
i live in the central time zone (ALABAMA).
thanks for your help
