Hi all,
I'm wondering how to deal with a tool change in my g code.
Currently the g code produced by Rhino cam/ mecsoft produces a tool change line. The spindle stops and a box says press to continue after tool change. Great... But here's the prob there is no way to get the tool out.
I have tried stopping the job moving the spindle so I could change the tool and then tried starting from that line..
What I get is air cutting and the spindle is not restarted.
Any suggestions welcomed
Thanks
Everett

I guess there must be _some_ way to get the tool out?
Is the problem just that the tool is too close to the work to get the tool out?
Have a look at: www.linuxcnc.org/docs/html/config/ini_co..._sub_emcio_section_a
If you define a tool-change position then the machine will move to there when there is a tool-change request.
In your case this may be only a partial answer unless you have a tool-holding system with repeatable length.

And if that is true it may just be easier to break the code up into separate codes for each tool.

Thanks for the Feed back I have attached the G-Code for reference...
I do have a 10 tool changer but haven't got that far with the conversion of a dyna myte 4400.
I will be happy changing manually but I need to have the spindle move so there is enough room to remove the tool.
So I guess my question is what is the best way to go about this??
Thanks
Everett

Define a TOOL_CHANGE_POSITION in the INI file.
