I have a X6 1500GT on the way and I am wondering if I can use Linux CNC with a USB CNC?

No, linuxcnc doesn't support USB motion control cards.
Though the step drivers shown are use step and direction signals so you could bypass the USB card and use it with linuxcnc.

Is there any plans to add this to future versions? The laptop I acquired doesn't have a serial port either. How are the USB to serial adapters now days? I would assume that is how I would need to hook up the machine in order to use LinuxCNC? Or do I need to use a different controller card?
