Best/Easiest HW to support 24V DC Brush Servos?

Hello,

I have a Sherline CNC Mill with 24V DC brushed servos with high resolution quadrature encoders. I want to replace the current servo controller and Windows based SW and move to LinuxCNC. Can anyone suggest some reasonably-priced HW for these servos?

If the drives are ok then the Mesa 5i25 7i77 combo works well. Are your drives analog input velocity drives?

Leadshine DCS810 maybe? Can be had for less than $100.
To drive it you can use a parallel port setup or Mesa setup (e.g. 5i25+7i76).

I have no experience with this particular drive, but their stepper drives are good.

Pico have some experience with Sherline machines

I think that all Pico hardware requires a parallel port.

Mesa have a range of servo drives, this one might work:
store.mesanet.com/index.php?route=produc...th=65&product_id=137 You would need two for 3 axes, with a channel spare, encoders connect through that back to the FPGA card.
The cheapest FPGA card to connect it to a PC and LinuxCNC is probably
store.mesanet.com/index.php?route=produc...83_85&product_id=291 Which again needs a parallel port for supported LinuxCNC drivers.
If you prefer PCI (and who wouldn't) then the 5i24 is probably what you want:

If you are feeling adventurous then you can use the same driver with an ethernet-connected FPGA card, but it isn't especially mainstream or well-suppported yet:
