2.4 upgrade crashed was created by dcassyc1
Hi all,
I tried upgrading from EMC version 2.3 to 2.4. The was mention of cancelling an inifile line
' remove the inifile line NML_FILE = emc.nml'
I looked in the EMC2 directory of my home directory and I could not find any file named inifile. Then I started EMC2.4 and it crashed
Do I have to apply this change to the file in order to run version 2.4 and if so what is the location of the file that needs to be modified?

regards,
Denis

here's the error message:

for long posts use pastebin.com or pastebin.ca then put a link up.

instructions for upgrading from 2.3 to 2.4 are here:

Do I have to apply this change to the file in order to run version 2.4 and if so what is the location of the file that needs to be modified?

the inifile is a file of your machine configuration. The name is MyMachine.ini, where MyMachine stands for your individual configuration name.

The "Invalid configuration of axes" error message is a red-herring. It is the timeout message when something goes wrong with loading the hal configuration. (and possibly when things go wrong elsewhere).

In your case the ini file that needs editing is mentioned in the error messages:
Machine configuration file is 'Ttech.ini'
INIFILE=/home/denis/emc2/configs/Ttech/Ttech.ini
You need to remove the NML=e,c.nml line from the file /home/denis/emc2/configs/Ttech/Ttech.ini
