drive enable wiring was created by cmtunnel
I'm having trouble figuring how to wire my drives so linuxcnc can shut them down. The drives are amc 12a8 drives and use inhibits. So I think the idea is to set up relays that will take the inhibit pin to ground when linuxcnc wants to shut the system down. The attached drawings are my system as it is now. I am hoping someone can modify the drawings to show what mods i need to make. There are 6 enable inputs from linuxcnc and i have inhibit, inh+, inh- at the drives but i think im only supposed to use the first one, pin 11. Not sure what to do here. Thanks.

The easiest thing would be to use SPDT relay's Normally Closed (NC)
contact to short the drives pin 11 to drive ground until linuxcnc enables the drives
by powering the relay. You may be able to wire all the pin 11 inhibit inputs in parallel
and use a single relay for this.

so which pins are used on the 7i77? There are two enable leads coming from the card but only 1 pin11. I'm sure the answer is simple but I'm not that saavy with wiring & relays. Sounds like the two enables are connected to a relay then the relay is also wired to the inh on the drive and takes pin11 to ground when tripped by enable wiring from 7i77. I think i understand the idea of how it works but i'm not so sure of the wiring yet.

drive pin 11 = /INH --> relay NC contact
drive pin 2 =GND--> relay COM contact

7I77 field output --> relay coil-1
Field power common --> relay coil-2

so are you saying to connect all three enable(+)'s from tb5 pin to relay coil -1. And the three enable(-)'s to the relay COM contact?

No

Here's an example connection using field output 0

7I77 field output-0 TB8 pin 17 to relay coil-1
7I77 field common TB2 pin 8 to relay coil-2

relay NC contact to Drive 0,1,2 pin 11 (/INH)
relay COM contact to Drive 0,1,2 pin 2 (Drive GND)

Nope, unless you jumper the drives for enable rather than inhibit inputs (requires soldering)
