Hi all,
Would i be able to use the drives and motors from a mx3 prototak control retrofit, it also has scale feedback.
Thanks
Mark

does it use step and direction or analog voltage (eg +-10 volt) commands?
I would think it uses +-10 volt.
If either are true then definitely can control the drives with linuxcnc
Does the motor feedback to the drive have an encoder or resolver or does it use only a tach?
If encoder or resolver then definitely can read the feedback with the right hardware cards.
If it only uses a tach then that is a bit of a problem. You would probably need to add an quadrature encoder
Does the linear scale output digital Quadrature or analog sinewaves ?
Either will work but the analog will need to be converted to digital.
there are other outputs from scales but I bet it's one of those two.
If you can find make / model of the motor drives and motor or pictures of them.
You may get more detailed answers.
