does any one know if and or where I can find a plug in or something that will automatically find the edges of the work piece and set the axis to zero?

I use an mechanical edge finder to locate the front face of the rear vise jaw and that is always Y0. I have a 1/2" dowel that I put in the spindle and push the material up to the dowel. That is either X-0.250 or X0.250 depending on what side the dowel is on. Takes a few seconds to do. Then you can either use the paper method or a dowel to locate the Z0 for your tool.
