regarding the ratchet and pawl , as your cutting in reverse , all the forces will now be on the gearing , and the motor shaft
due to the gear ratio it should be able to take the load of cutting light loads such as threading say metric threads , but yes i'd be careful
if i get a chance i'll try and see if i can measure encountered forces
